Accessibility Statement
Last reviewed:
Lehaka is a social network for musicians. We want everyone to be able to use it, including people with disabilities and people who use assistive technology.
The standard we aim for
Our target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA (the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Lehaka is partially conformant: most requirements are met, and the known limitations are listed below.
This is a self-assessment based on our own review. Lehaka has not been certified or audited by an outside body.
What we have done
- Every page was checked against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules with an automated tool (axe-core), in English and Hebrew, on computers and phones, and every issue found was fixed.
- Text and buttons have a color contrast of at least 4.5:1.
- Every form field has a label that screen readers announce.
- The site works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a "Skip to main content" link at the top of every page.
- The layout adapts to any screen size and supports zooming to 200% without losing content.
- Every page declares its language and text direction (Hebrew right to left, English left to right).
- Animations are switched off for people who turned on "reduce motion" on their device.
- Pop-up messages are announced to screen readers, and dialogs keep the focus inside them and close with the Esc key.
- Form error messages are announced to screen readers, and focus moves to them.
- Accessibility is built into the site itself. On top of that, the Accessibility settings button (♿, in the bottom corner of every page) lets you enlarge text, increase line and letter spacing, switch to high contrast (light or dark) or grayscale, highlight links and headings, use a more readable font, switch to a simple layout, use a reading mask, stop animations, make the focus outline stronger and enlarge the cursor. Your choices are saved on your own device only and are never sent to us. The button is a convenience - it doesn't replace the accessibility of the site itself, which was built and checked separately.
Known limitations
- Content members upload: photos members upload don't have text descriptions yet, and videos and audio members upload don't have captions or transcripts.
- Content embedded from other services (YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, Spotify) plays in those services' players, and its accessibility depends on them.
- Assistive technology testing: we have not yet tested Lehaka with screen reader users (such as NVDA, JAWS or VoiceOver). That is our next step.
- Browser notification and permission prompts belong to the browser and are outside our control.
